Welcome to China.. first impressions are generally important right? Well, one of our first impressions of China was a man trying to scam us into paying six, yes, SIX times as much for a taxi to our hotel.. luckily, we had the forethought to look up around what it is supposed to cost!
But we soon found a metered taxi and luckily were on our way. Traffic in China is supposed to be legendary, and I am sure it would have been IF we hadn't just been less than 10 hours from a rather fast taxi ride to the New Delhi Airport. As it was, I napped until we reached our hotel…
Now, there are just a few times when a hotel can inspire giddy happiness.. I can remember one time when travelling through the UK in hostels only to find ourselves in a legitimate B&B for a night that inspired giddiness and a little bit of prancing – my reaction to the Ritz Carlton Financial Beijing was no less. Even Matthew was feeling the giddy excitement of a HOT shower and a comfortable, clean bed (never mind even getting to the pillow menu!)

And then: We slept like wee babies in a giant bed… :)
